1. Environmental Protection Tax Law of the People's Republic of China
As China's first single tax law specifically reflecting the "green tax system" and promoting the construction of ecological civilization, the Environmental Protection Tax Law of the People's Republic of China will officially come into force on January 1, 2018, which will mean the formal end of the sewage charges that have been levied for nearly 40 years.
According to the regulations, the tax range of taxable air pollutants is from 1.2 yuan to 12 yuan per pollution equivalent, the tax range of water pollutants is from 1.4 yuan to 14 yuan per pollution equivalent, solid waste ranges from 5 yuan to 1,000 yuan per ton according to different types, and industrial noise is paid at 350 yuan to 11,200 yuan per month according to the number of decibels of exceeding the standard.
2. New version of the Water Pollution Prevention and Control Law
On January 1, 2018, the newly revised Water Pollution Prevention and Control Law will also come into force. The new version of the Law on the Prevention and Control of Water Pollution clarifies the responsibility of all levels of government for the quality of the water environment, adds the establishment of the river chief system in provinces, cities, counties and townships, and clarifies that "the state implements a system of total control of the discharge of key water pollutants."

3. "Reform Program of Ecological and Environmental Damage Compensation System
On December 17, 2017, the Central Office and the State Office officially issued the "Reform Program of the Compensation System for Ecological and Environmental Damages", which decided to implement the compensation system for ecological and environmental damages on a trial basis from January 1, 2018 throughout the country.
The program clearly defines the implementation goal: "2020, strive to build a preliminary nationwide system of compensation for damage to the ecological environment with clear responsibilities, smooth pathways, technical specifications, strong safeguards, compensation in place, and effective restoration", which also means that the system of compensation for damage to the ecological environment will become a regular mechanism for the future of our country.
Ministry of Environmental Protection six "inspectorate" officially debut
Approved by the Central Editorial Office, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, North China, East China, South China, Northwest China, Southwest China, Northeast China Environmental Protection Supervision Center from the institutions to the Ministry of Environmental Protection sent to the administrative agencies, officially renamed the "Inspectorate".
